Jordon Vocational Education - Scenery picture of country side.

In 1996 His Majesty King Hussein established Al-Balqa' Applied University (BAU) in Al Salt, Jordan with a mandate to manage and undertake reforms in the national community college system. With colleges in Al Salt, Az Zarka, Amman, Aqaba, and other centres throughout Jordan the BAU system enrolls approximately 12,000 students in employment based vocational technical programs. The BAU mandate includes industry/institution liaison and education leading to employment, with the ultimate goal the eradication of poverty in the country. Az Zarka College specializes in Health and Human Services for Jordan.

Camosun College and Jordan's Al Balqa' Applied University have been partners for over ten years. The college and BAU enjoy a personal relationship based on mutual trust and respect earned through years of work Camosun College has carried out for CIDA's bilateral projects in Jordan - the Canada-Jordan Economic Development through Technical Skills Project, and the Sustaining and Extending Technical Vocational Education and Training project.
