How to Apply

It's easy to apply as an international student

Let us help you on your way. In four easy steps you can start your education at Camosun. If you have questions about the application process please contact international@camosun.ca.

Step 1 - Find a program

From academic upgrading to business administration degrees and health care technical training, Camosun offers something for everyone. Browse our program list.

English proficiency levels

Admission to most academic programs is based on meeting one of the following English proficiency levels:

You can also apply for English upgrading in order to meet your English proficiency for program admission.

Note: Academic IELTS and TOEFL iBT scores must be from within the past two years. For TOEFL we require an original document from ETS to Camosun College: Destination (DI) Code: 7527

IELTS or TOEFL requirements for undergraduate programs:

  • Academic IELTS score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT score of 83 with no score less than 20 on each level

IELTS or TOEFL requirements for post-graduate programs:

  • Academic IELTS score of 6.5 with no individual band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT score of 88 with no score less than 20 on each level

Note Applicants from countries where Study Direct Stream (SDS) or Canada Express Study (CES) are available must meet corresponding SDS/CES criteria in addition to Camosun admission requirements.

Consider Camosun Homestay

Experience Victoria with a Camosun Homestay family. You must apply at least six weeks before the start of your program. Learn more about the Camosun Homestay program.

Step 2 - Apply

Each program has program-specific admissions requirements, listed on the program admissions page. Please review the program you are interested and ensure you have the requirements before you apply.

Deadlines – Applicants outside Canada

Applicants must submit their application and all supporting documents by the following deadline to be considered for admission:

  • Fall term (September) — June 30
  • Winter term (January) — October 31
  • Summer term (May) — February 28

Deadlines – Applicants within Canada (with a valid study permit)

Applicants must submit their application and all supporting documents by the following deadline to be considered for admission:

  • Fall term (September) — July 10
  • Winter term (January) — November 10
  • Summer term (May) — March 10

Application Process

The international student application process consists of two parts:

Part One: Education Planner BC

You must apply online through Education Planner first.

  • Save your application number
  • Save e-payment receipt

If you are not sure whether you meet the admission requirements for international students, consider skipping the Education Planner BC step and submitting supporting documents only with a request for unofficial evaluation.

Part Two: Supporting documents

Submit supporting documents in English. Where appropriate, please provide English translations of all documents (transcripts and credentials) for all education completed and indicated in the application form. Documents submitted become the property of Camosun College and will not be returned.

You must submit legible copies of supporting documents.

Scans of official documents are acceptable at this stage. Official, sealed transcripts from all institutions attended must be received by Camosun College prior to starting classes.

1. Passport (mandatory)
  • Front page (picture page)
  • Page showing signature and address (where applicable)
2. Study Permit or any other Canadian government-issued permit (if applicable)

3. First Semester International Student Refund / Deferral Procedure (mandatory)
  • Download the Procedure form PDF, fill it electronically, print off and sign it.
  • The student’s signature on the form must match the signature on the passport.
4. International Applicant Declaration (mandatory)
  • Download the Declaration form PDF, fill it electronically, print off and sign it.
  • The student’s signature on the form must match the signature on the passport.
5. Permission to release information (optional)
If you wish to grant anyone access to your information, you will need to complete this form PDF and indicate who is allowed access to your admission and registration information. If you do not wish anyone to have access to your information, then skip this step. Permission can be changed by informing the International Office in writing anytime.

6. English Proficiency (please submit one)
  • Academic IELTS must be taken within the past two years
  • TOEFL iBT must be taken within the past two years. Original document from ETS sent directly to Camosun College is required. Destination (DI) Code: 7527
  • Recognized Pathway Partner Certificate
  • Other: BC English 12 or equivalent
7. Transcripts and credentials
  • High school transcripts, proof of high school graduation (mandatory for most programs) and official, notarized English translations
  • Post-secondary transcripts and credentials (if applicable) and official, notarized English translations
    • All of them, including non-completed and/or in-progress
8. Program-specific documents (if applicable)
Your program of choice may have additional admission requirements such as proof of graduation, experience, portfolio, etc.

  • Check the Admissions Requirements tab
  • Determine if your program has additional admission requirements. If applicable, include relevant attachments with your supporting documents.

Type all information. We will not accept handwritten “Declaration”, “Refund Procedure” or “Permission to Release Information” forms.

Print off the applicable forms and sign them. The student’s signature MUST match the signature on the passport.

Scan all relevant supporting documents and email them to international_applications@camosun.ca.

 

Student Visa Application Timelines

Please check with Citizenship and Immigration Canada to see the average processing times for student visas if you are applying from outside of Canada.

72-hour response time

You will receive a response from one of our International Admissions Officers within 72 hours, with instructions for your next steps.

Step 3 - Attending Camosun

Housing options

Review your housing options and decide where you want to live in Victoria. You must apply for the Homestay program at least six weeks before arrival.

We encourage you to attend the on-campus New Student Orientation before you begin your studies. It will give you the opportunity to connect with other new international students, meet the staff, and get to know your campus!
