With more than forty years of post-secondary experience at colleges and universities in Canada and the United States, Richard brings expertise in all four of Boyer’s scholarships and a wide variety of research contexts.

He comes to Camosun Innovates after serving as Vice President Academic and Provost at Capilano University and founding Director of Mount Royal University’s Institute for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Richard was a researcher at Douglas College and Royal Roads University, a faculty member at Bowling Green State University and Sonoma State University, and a Senior Scholar for the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching at Stanford.  

He holds a PhD in Theatre History, an MFA in Playwriting, an MA in Drama, and a BA in Liberal Studies.
