An introduction to the WCB OH&S Regulations for Confined Space Entry, this course includes identifying hazards, establishing control measures, and developing an entry program for your place of work. Prerequisite: a minimum of one year working in a trade area.Tuition includes course materials.
One of the top seven workplace hazards, a fall can have serious consequences! This workshop presents the WCB requirements for fall protection in the construction industry. Topics include planning and application of fall protection systems; types of fall restraining systems; fall arrest systems; and the use of various personal fall protection gear. Course materials are included in the tuition. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Traffic Controllers are responsible for public and construction traffic safety. Learn about the Industrial Health and Safety regulations and safe positions and procedures in this Government approved training course. Includes both theory and practical field sessions with practical and written exams. Upon successful completion, a three-year certificate will be issued by the BC Construction Safety Alliance. Requirements: all weather gear for outdoor practical, bag lunch (food services are limited on weekends), a recent photo (42x53mm for preparing your certificate), and CSA approved safety boots (6" or higher). Students must present current picture ID to instructor.
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training is a requirement for employees working in trades, custodial, and all workplaces where chemical products are used. Topics include working with and storing controlled products, responsibilities of employers and employees, and how to apply the WHMIS system to your work environment. Students receive a wallet-sized certificate of completion.
WorkSafeBC certified courses are designed to reduce worksite injury and address safety processes within the workplace. Courses may also be scheduled as dedicated courses for employee groups or organizations. Participants receive a WorkSafe certificate upon successful completion. Course materials included in tuition. Successful completion is recognized for .5 credit in BCIT's OH&S Program.
For supervisors who want to increase their ability to manage safety in the workplace and better understand their responsibilities in this area. Course reviews the principles of due diligence, WCB officer functions, risk assessment and control, and effective crew talks. It is recommended that you complete Joint H&S Committee training prior to this course. A WorkSafe certificate of successful completion is issued upon completion. Course materials are included in tuition. Successful completion is recognized for .5 credit towards BCIT's OH&S program.
