Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

I understand I can register for continuing education classes online via Camlink. What is it?

Camlink is a secure, online records management system used for enrolling in both credit and continuing education courses. It is not necessary for you to contact Camosun beforehand. All you need is a valid credit card.

top

How do I access Camlink?

http://camosun.ca/ce/ceregister

If we do not have your name and mailing address in our records, then, upon successful credit card payment, a new record and Camlink account will be created for you. If you are already in the Camlink system, the new continuing education registration will be attached to your existing record.

top

Are all continuing education courses available through this?

You can register for the vast majority of continuing education classes. The exceptions are credentialed Continuing Education certificate programs.

top

What if the desired course is full?

Our policy is to accept registrations on the first-come, first-served basis which applies to the receipt of tuition fees by the Information & Registration department. However, if a course is full, you have the option of going to a web form to request to be placed on a call list for the course.

top

Can students drop their classes using Camlink?

No. For a variety of reasons anyone wishing to drop their course must contact Camosun.

top

How do I find out my Camlink username?

After paying the registration fees the confirmation page will display your username (e.g. C0123456). The system will send you your password by email.

top

How can I obtain more detail about the course than the description contains?

See contacts under program areas. If you are requesting a course outline, please include your fax number or mailing address.

top

What if my course is relocated or rescheduled?

We make every effort to avoid doing this, but occasionally it is necessary. Current telephone numbers on your registration form are a big help should this happen. We will do our best to contact you to advise of changes. If it is not acceptable to you, a full refund will be issued.

Are you an Employer or Sponsoring Agency?

If you are an employer or sponsoring agency, please see our Employer/Sponsor Approval for Fees–Continuing Education Form.

top

Where can I find a copy of the Continuing Education Calendar?

top

Where do I find the Camosun College application form application form?

The Continuing Education course I’d like to enroll in requires submitting a Camosun College application form. Where do I find the application form?

top

Are there any prerequisites I must have to take Continuing Education courses?

In most cases, you do not need prerequisites for non-credentialled Continuing Education courses. However, please read the course descriptions carefully as some contain recommendations for a certain skill level or knowledge, without which the student may be at a disadvantage.

top

What level of English Language Competency is required?

To help ensure a successful and positive learning experience, fluency in spoken and written English is essential for all courses.

top

Can I pay the course fee in two installments or by postdated cheque?

Unfortunately, no. Except for programs requiring a $500 registration deposit, you will not have your registration confirmed until payment is received in full, but remember, for classes other than certificate programs, you can use your VISA, American Express, MasterCard or JBC number to register online, in person or by fax (250-370-3551), mail or by phone (250-370-3550).

top

I plan to register for a continuing education course. Can I still pay with my credit card?

Yes! Camosun College continues to accept credit card payment for all continuing education courses, including these credentialed certificate programs: Activity Assistant, AutoCAD Graphics, Hospital Unit Clerk, Leadership Development, Medical Laboratory Assistant, MS Office, Travel Counselling and Web Foundation.

top

Are Continuing Education course fees tax deductible?

Course fees totalling more than $100 in a year to the same institution are tax deductible.

top

Why are some courses cancelled?

A minimum enrolment is required to recover the full costs of providing the course. When a course fails to reach this minimum we reluctantly cancel it. We do this five working days before the course start date. This enables us to contact the registrants and provide a refund, or if available, offer them a transfer to another course or section. It is important that you provide your phone number(s) when registering so that we can contact you without delay.

top

Can I transfer to a different section?

Transfers within the same subject area are permitted without penalty (e.g. Computers – Level I to Computers – Level II).
