About 80 secondary students representing School Districts 61, 62, 63, 64 and 79 competed in seven trades and technology skills contests. Gold medal winners have now earned the right to represent the South Island region at the 20th annual Skills Canada BC provincial competition, to be held in Abbotsford on April 9, 2014. (more...)

Camosun College congratulates Civil Engineering Technology student Ben Lubberts, the 2013 recipient of the Co-op Student of the Year Award, presented by the Association for Co-operative Education, BC/Yukon (ACE BC). Camosun DECA delivers outstanding performance Wed, 5 Mar 2014
Twenty three DECA students and three faculty advisors travelled to Seattle on February 20-22 to compete in the Pacific Northwest Career Development Conference (PNCDC). The students competed in a variety of events as individuals or teams that were either prepared or timed preparation cases. Camosun returned loaded with hardware with three 1st, two 2nd, and two 3rd place finishes and a total of 17 students placing in the top 5 of their respective categories. A total of 131 students from 7 post-secondary schools participated. (more...)

Chargers Golf Team Captures Bronze at 2013 PING CCAA Nationals Fri, 18 Oct 2013
The Camosun Chargers men's golf team came from behind to capture the bronze medal at the 2013 PING CCAA Golf National Championship at the Royal Quebec Golf Club, Quebec City. The Chargers team scored the lowest round of the day finishing with 288 for a three day championship total of 881. The gold medal went to University of the Fraser Valley (863) and sliver to Humber College (875). (more...)

Camosun scientist explores new methods to detect pesticides in fresh produce Thurs, 30 May 2013
Camosun College research chemist Blair Surridge is developing comprehensive, cost-effective methods to detect pesticide residues and other contaminants on fresh produce. The two-year project is in its early stages, but affordable and accessible screening methods to detect even minute chemical residues on fruits and vegetables may eventually translate into better quality assurance for local farmers, retail outlets and consumers. Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology Capstone Symposium Mon, 3 Dec 2012
A 7.5 foot blimp will be flying around the room, controlled by an android smart phone. Another smart phone will be controlling a blast of sounds created by an analog tube guitar effects module. Important notice: Job action set for 10:45 – 1:15 this Friday Wed, 28 Nov 2012
Camosun support workers (CUPE 2081) have indicated that job action will be occurring for a brief time this upcoming Friday, November 30. However, the action will be directed at a local MLA office and will not happen on campus. As there will be no pickets on campus, this will result in NO disruption of classes but could impact most services. As a result College services may be limited or closed between 10:45am and 1:15pm. The College regrets any inconvenience this may cause. (more...)

Camosun College business students place first in CMA BC case competition Thurs, 15 Nov 2012
Four Camosun business students took the top prize at the sixth annual Certified Management Accountants Society of BC case competition held at SFU earlier this month. Competing against 30 other teams of first- and second-year students from BC's universities and colleges, the Camosun team demonstrated exceptional management skills by analyzing a fictional business case of Sarah's Antiques. Camosun's Employment Skills Access program provides hope and new job prospects Thurs, 25 Oct 2012
Camosun College will receive up to $943,000 in Employment Skills Access funding to train eligible clients in six targeted job-readiness programs. Seventeen deserving Camosun College students each received a $5,000 Ike Barber BC Transfer Scholarship recognizing their excellent academic achievement and community service. The Irving K. Barber Scholarship Society, named for the BC philanthropist and founder of Slocan Forest Products Ltd., encourages students to start their post-secondary studies at a local public institution like Camosun College, then transfer to a degree-granting institution in BC to complete their four-year bachelor degree.
