There was a small buzz at the head offices of UNIT4 Business Software Tuesday morning, as President Shelley Zapp accepted the first “Stand Up Be Counted” employer award from the Camosun College Alumni Association. “It’s an honour to be recognized by Camosun,” says Zapp, who commends the reciprocal nature of the Camosun connection. “UNIT4 is a global, fast paced information technology firm that attracts exceptional employees. Graduates from Camosun’s programs like Computer Systems Technology are ready to hit the ground right out of college, and that’s why we love hiring them!”

“We launched this award last month at the VIATeC Tectoria event to recognize the link between Camosun and the technology sector and thank local employers for hiring our grads,” says Angie Bowles, Alumni Relations co-ordinator. “The response was encouraging and the contest participants were really keen to show their support for Camosun and our alumni. I hope to expand and evolve the program to include other employee sectors, too.”
