Camosun College

Gibson Musicales concert series

February 3, 2012

The concert series, Gibson Musicales, hosted by Camosun’s Department of Music in partnership with the Victoria Conservatory of Music, continues February 24 in the Gibson Auditorium at Lansdowne campus (Young 216). The 45-minute performance begins at 4pm, followed by a Q&A session with the performers right after. The concert series wraps up with the third and final performance on March 16.

“Camosun has been so open and inviting to its music students, who willingly share their talents with the community at large and help enrich the college culture,” says Mary Byrne, Chair of the Camosun College Music Department and Director of the Professional School at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. “The concerts are a great way to start the weekend on a good note,” says Byrne. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted.

Challenging repertoire demonstrates a great depth of talent

The February 24 concert features voice students from the studios of Ingrid Attrot, Nancy Argenta, and Kathleen Brett performing highlights from the Italian song repertoire. These fine performers will be fresh off their most recent competition experience from the week before – the VCM’s own Italian Song Competition!
