Pacific coast marine ecosystems are some of the most productive and diverse in the world, and there is still much to discover of the marine realm. Dr. Cliff Robinson, marine scientist with Parks Canada, takes you through estuaries, reefs and eelgrass meadows of the north BC coast and discusses current efforts to establish the Gwaii Haanas National Marine Conservation Area Reserve.
Daryl Fedje and Nicole Smith, Parks Canada archaeologists, will take you back in time to Gwaii Haanas to investigate the relationship between people and the sea that dates back as far as 10,000 years. Come and learn about ancient archaeological sites and the long-standing tradition of marine resource use by the ancestral Haida and the exciting new projects happening now.
