Camosun College welcomes Dr. Marilyn Pattison to Board

Camosun College Board of Governors Chair Ms Lynda Farmer is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marilyn Pattison to the Board, effective December 7, 2009.

Dr. Pattison was raised in Delta, B.C. She is a graduate of UBC (BA, M.Ed) and the University of Toronto (PhD in Higher Education). After four years as a high school counsellor she joined the faculty of Douglas College and later became the first Dean of Student Services at the college.

“We are privileged to welcome Marilyn to the Camosun College Board,” says Chair Lynda Farmer. “Her long association and commitment to the role of colleges have given Marilyn experience and expertise that will compliment the range of skills currently present on our board and promise to help Camosun College continue to develop its reputation as an exemplary provider of student centered education. Marilyn's recent involvement as Vice Chair of the Camosun College Foundation board further demonstrates her dedication and insight into the work of the College.”

In 1980 Dr. Pattison and her husband moved to Toronto. There she worked for the Council of Ontario Universities and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. In 1999 they returned to B.C., residing in Victoria. Dr. Pattison is an active community volunteer.

Dr. Pattison participated on the Board at Volunteer Victoria, and was a member of the Steering Committee at Leadership Victoria. She is past president of the Greater Victoria YM/YWCA and serves as a lay councilor of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C.
