Camosun’s ‘Aggressors’ win 2008 RedBull Soapbox Derby

Mechanical Engineering Technology team competes for top spot

The Redbull Soapbox race is a world-renowned soapbox derby, having been held more than 35 times across the world. This year, RedBull Soapbox made its first stop in Vancouver. Engineering Technologies faculty and students from Camosun College were there to put their race car design and construction talents on the line.

Camosun’s Aggressors took first at the 2008 RedBull Soapbox Derby in Vancouver. Made up of students and instructors from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program, the team won their race with a time of 38.6 seconds

The team is no stranger to success. They’ve competed in the Canary Soapbox Derby the last two years, reaching the podium both times. This is the first time they’ve raced their revamped batmobile soapbox car in the RedBull Soapbox Derby.

The team’s pre-race skit was a big hit.
