United Way 2011 campaign
Pledge totals as of November 25 equals $75,000!
Can you say "prizes?" Your completed pledge form might still win you an Acer Tablet, Golf Passes, Gift Certificates and more. This year’s formal United Way Campaign comes to a close as of Friday, November 25, 2011. We of course will continue to accept contributions after that date and we will apply them to the campaign. Camosun has a generous heart, and given the huge demand on United Way resources, we certainly hope to meet our target and your help in accomplishing this will be greatly appreciated.
Please get your pledge forms in to Terry Sandwith in the Finance department.
The United Way goal is $6.3 million this year and working together we can continue to change the future for the tens of thousands of our neighbours and colleagues whose lives are made better, stronger and healthier through the community partners of the United Way.
United Way continues to need these donations to make sure those in our own community who need help most, get it. With 1 in 3 people (over 128,000 people are accessing United Way funded services and programs this year alone!) needing help from United Way, your donation may very well be helping someone you know.
The co-chairs John Boraas and Deborah Huelscher would like to thank all for the generous donations.
Upcoming and Ongoing Events
Musical Events
Camosun’s United Way Campaign committee presented a jazz concert over the lunch hour on Friday, November 18 in the Atrium of the Liz Ashton Campus Centre building at Interurban. Performed by our senior jazz students from the Victoria Conservatory of Music many had the chance to take a break from their desks and enjoy 40 minutes of wonderful live music. At noon on Friday, Nov 25 at the Wilna Thomas Annex Mary Byrne made her flute come alive and one of Camosun’s first year music students enchanted us with the violin! All who attended felt refreshed and inspired by these amazing and talented musicians! Thank you to all the students and staff who made these events possible.
Nasty November Bike Challenge – November 7 to 25
From November 7 to 25 the true-grit cyclists are asked to keep track and to forward the number of kilometres travelled to Cam-motion. For further information please contact Cam-motion
Halloween Carnival--fun in Finance!
The Finance Department was the place to come for Halloween fun on October 31! The proceeds came to $100.56! There was bowling, ring toss, mini golf, a fantastic pumpkin and much more! Admission was by donation, with popcorn and tattoos $1 each. Lisa Woodward guessed the jelly bean count and was only out by one. That was amazing as there were 397 jelly beans! It was a great way to have fun and support The United Way! A thank you to all the hard working (and fun loving), guys & gals in the Finance and Purchasing departments! Thanks to everyone for your support!
