A Great Day at Open House 2010!
What if you threw a party and nobody came?
Camosun has no idea, because when we hosted our annual Open House on April 29, 3,000 people showed up!
May 7, 2010
Students from more than 30 middle and secondary schools from across Vancouver Island arrived by bus, along with many carloads of others interested in finding out what Camosun could offer them. Check out the Open House gallery...
The theme of the day was Get your hands on our stuff! And that’s just what our visitors did. They welded and hammered and built one-string electric guitars and pedaled for power and fired catapults and did puzzles and guessing games and science experiments and curled and made origami…and so much more! They listened to music, learned about health care careers, found out math can be fun, tried out as TV broadcasters, dabbled in forensic accounting, wrote poetry, made fruit juice, struggled with the mirror maze challenge, learned to read blueprints, played Wii Golf and sampled mocktails.
To sum it up, they had a lot of fun while learning about Camosun’s programs and the many careers open to Camosun grads. Check out the photo gallery to see how much fun it was!

Connecting career programs with real careers
This year we welcomed industry partners onto campus to talk to our young visitors about the wide range of careers they offer. These companies recognize that Camosun specializes in career training and that newly skilled employees will be needed to replace a rapidly retiring workforce.
Thank you to our other partners!
Camosun also thanks our other partners, who stepped forward with financial support because they recognize the importance of helping young people make informed post-secondary and career decisions.
