Get involved
Parking & Transportation
We need your help to continue with the ideas developed in our Transportation and Parking Management Plan. See our plan in the documents (link) section of this website. We’d love to have your energy and enthusiasm!
There are a variety of ways in which you can help promote sustainable transportation options at Camosun College. If you are an avid cyclist or interested in improving public transit or wish to promote car-pooling on campus: We need your help! Starting in September of 2009 there will be three working groups being created. There are also opportunities for class projects focused on transportation which could help us.
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities please contact cam-motion@camosun.bc.ca
Cycling involvement
Join the Bike to Camosun Network! This cycling program was started in the summer of 2009, to encourage and support staff and students to cycle to Camosun. This program and group will grow and change as it continues into the future.
Join the Cycling Committee! This committee meets regularly to discuss how to promote, encourage and develop cycling infrastructure and programs at Camosun College.
Transit & Carpool working group
In the 2008 transportation and parking survey, transit was identified as the most viable alternative to driving with carpooling coming very close. If you want positive change in transit at Camosun, please volunteer for the Transit or Carpool Working Groups. These groups will help perpetuate ideas formed in the transportation and parking plan: including identifying major problems, helping promote transit initiatives and overall shaping the future of public transit and Carpooling to Camosun College.
Join the Parking Appeals committee
The parking appeals committee is formed comprised of three students and three staff members. Their job is to review parking violation appeals which have been though the Robbins parking appeal process. If you want to become a part of this process please contact cam-motion@camsoun.bc.ca meetings are once a month.
Class projects
Here are a few ideas to consider when deciding on class projects. Ask your instructor if any of the following (or others similar) is suitable for you. We would love to post your completed project on this web site or include in future planning documents if you let us know and give us permission:
- BC transit use by students, analyse stats over a period of time, develop theories, summarize barriers, etc (contact Kathryn Le Gros, legros@camosun.bc.ca to access data)
- Physical audits of bikes on campus
- GIS coding of postal codes and relate to carpooling or transit opportunities
- Do you have other ideas? Contact Kathryn Le Gros, legros@camosun.bc.ca to discuss
- GIS map of bicycle routes to Camosun College Campuses
- Physical audits of pedestrian links and barriers on change
