Vancouver Island Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping
VICAMP, developed by Camosun College, delivers advanced manufacturing and prototyping services to local industry.
The centre brings together the expertise, engineering technology and precision equipment to support innovation and development in a variety of sectors.
With a dedicated, year-round staff, VICAMP also provides industry with access to high tech knowledge resources, including database and library collections.
The role of the community college has changed
While the Island’s technology sector grew into a 1.67 billion dollar industry, Camosun College evolved into a highly successful engineering technology school, training quality graduates in electronics, mechanical, civil, environmental and computer systems technologies. It has also maintained its status as the Island’s premier trades training facility.
Local industry can now access that experience for their own research and development.
VICAMP acts as a catalyst for innovation
- connecting local companies with applied research funding
- establishing synergies between industry and Camosunto better serve future personnel requirements
- helping to promote economic development and diversity on Vancouver Island
