Comparing the experiences of post-secondary completers and stop-outs

    Posted Wed, 31 Aug 2011

A new study from the Student Outcomes Forum compares the experiences of those BC post-secondary education (PSE) students who attain their credential and those who leave early (stop-outs, who may or may not return to PSE), particularly with regard to their goals for enrolling, their goal realization and satisfaction with education, and their financial situations.

The study provides evidence that credential rates are not the only way of viewing the success of post-secondary education. Regardless of their credential status, reasons for enrolling, or employment outcomes, a large majority of all respondents (completers or stop-outs) said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the education they received in B.C.’s postsecondary institutions.

    2011 Q2 & W Course Survey Schedule

    Posted Fri, 18 Feb 2011

The next iteration of the course feedback survey will occur in March and April 2011:
    • Interurban's Q2 course survey will run March 4 - March 11 in CBA 250
    • Lansdowne's Winter course survey will run March 21 - April 1 in the LLC Multipurpose Room
    • Interurban's Winter course survey will run April 4 - 11 in CBA 250

To reduce use of class time, two or three courses that share a cohort are sometimes scheduled as a "block" of surveys during one course’s class time. Course sections with surveys scheduled during another class's time are indicated with an asterisk, and the class “hosting” the survey during its class time is indicated with two asterisks. The chronological version of the survey schedule clarifies the concept and specifies which courses have been grouped for "block" surveys.

What is Camosun's planning environment? New environmental scan for Strategic Plan 2011 available.

    Posted Wed, 15 Dec 2010

Environmental Scan 2011 supports the College's new strategic planning process by providing data and analysis in three general areas: social trends, the economy and educational issues. The volatile combination of an aging population, the global economic downturn and financial crisis, high Canadian dollar, uneven recovery and significant skills shortages in a number of employment areas along with short-term high unemployment in other areas makes for a highly unpredictable labour market and program planning environment for post-secondary education in general and Camosun College in particular.
