Our Commitment

Camosun is committed to providing a learning and work environment that is respectful of all students and employees.

Under Pillar 1 of Camosun College's 2011-2014 Strategic Plan, we have set out to focus on creating life changing learning. Under Strategy 3, we specify our goal to "Value the diversity of our learners and the communities we serve."

Our actions to achieve this goal include:

  • Ensure a learning environment that is respectful of all students and employees
  • Complete the implementation of our indigenization plan
  • Grow and support internationalization throughout the College that reflects the global environment in which our students will live
  • Provide and support pathways and programs that attract and support immigrants, first generation and non-traditional learners

Diversity Advisory Committee

Since 2006, Camosun's Diversity Advisory Committee has been bringing together members of Camosun's community for continuing dialogue and planning aimed at placing the College as a community that celebrates diversity, to ensure students and employees feel welcomed and valued. The committee promotes discussion, events/special projects, policy and program advising and education/training that will serve this purpose.

Membership of DAC includes up to 15 members, including representation, (voluntary or appointed) from all major work groups - students, unions and management, and others as deemed necessary, with overall membership to reflect the diversity of the college population.
