Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity Initiatives

Camosun strives to provide and support initiatives that ensure all students, employees, and members of the college and Victoria community feel welcomed and valued. Camosun is also happy to welcome a diverse population, including more than 1,600 international students and 1,100 Indigenous students from 50 nations.

All Gender Washroom

All gender washrooms available on campus

Camosun is committed to providing safe and accessible campus washroom facilities for all students and employees. Single-stall washrooms on each campus have been designated as all-gender washrooms to appropriately meet the needs of all students, employees and the general public regardless of ability or gender identity.

An all-gender washroom is one where anyone can use the facility and signage is not gender specific. The space is beneficial for transgender persons and those who identify as gender non-conforming, gender fluid and anyone who requires a multi-gender washroom, such as an adult and child or an individual and their support worker.

All-gender, single-stall washrooms are accessible in these locations:

Camosun College Lansdowne

  • Dawson Building, first floor
  • Paul Building, second floor
  • Richmond House, main floor

Camosun College Interurban

  • Jack White Building, east hallway
  • Campus Centre, first floor

This initiative reflects Camosun’s core values of recognizing and celebrating an inclusive, supportive, respectful and diverse college community.

Respectful Workplace

Respectful Workplace

In 2014, Camosun launched the Respect in the Workplace Education program. This program is designed to clarify every employee's role and responsibilities in contributing to a respectful workplace. It informs employees on preventing and recognizing behaviours, comments or actions that might indicate bullying or harassment, and provides procedures on how to respond, resolve and report situations.

Clean air

Scent-Free Environment

Camosun College is committed to a safe, healthy and respectful environment for its students and employees, and recognizes that scented products may negatively impact an individual's quality of life or health.

The College strives to minimize the negative effect to individuals from exposure to perfumes, scents and other odours within our facilities. That is why Camosun has implemented the Scent Awareness Program on campus. We ask for your voluntary cooperation in promoting a scent-free environment.
