Christmas closure
Camosun will be open until 2pm, Monday, December 24, and then we will all take a break for the Christmas holidays. Our doors will open again Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
Most classes will start the week of January 7, except Computer and Engineering Technology programs, which jump back into things earlier with classes resuming January 2.
Ho! Ho! Ho!
The fall recruitment season has come to a close and I would like to thank all the high schools I visited this past September-December for their hospitality. I really enjoy talking with all of your students so please let me know if you need anything in the new year – lunchtime visits, Planning 10 classes, international info sessions, campus tours, additional brochures, etc.
In other news, we have a few prizes to give away!
Congratulations to the Camosun College Chatter High Competition winners:
- St. Andrews Regional High (1st place $1,250)
- Claremont Secondary (2nd place $750)
- Mount Douglas Secondary (3rd place $500)
We will be coming to your school soon to present your prize. Thanks to everyone for participating!
Also, Santa came early for two lucky students:
- Nathan from Belmont Secondary who won an iPad mini that was the grand draw prize at Camosun's booth at the Dec. 3 Victoria Education & Career Fair.
- Michaela from Alberni District Secondary who is the new owner of the iPod nano from a contest offered when Camosun visited her high school.

Sample the Campus
The Employment Preparation and Training program is hosting a dual-credit Sample the Campus series for grade 11 and 12 students. Over four Fridays in February and March, students will spend an hour in each of three entry level training programs (Food Service, Customer Service and E.A.R.T.H. Gardening). Students will receive a letter of completion and a head start on studies with 16 hours of college credit going towards the work experience course.

Camosun to host provincial basketball championship
The Camosun College Chargers are set to host this year's PACWEST Provincial Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, February 28 – March 2, 2013 at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence on Camosun's Interurban Campus. Watch for upcoming info on how your students can attend and take part in some great collegiate basketball action!
