Aboriginal student services
Educational services include providing information and assistance about what programs and services the college has to offer, and how to plan your educational future at Camosun College and beyond. We also work with students to organize study groups and other learning strategies.
Financial services include assisting students to access Band funding or assistance from Métis or other Aboriginal organizations. Aboriginal Education, in partnership with the College Foundation, also administers a number of awards, including the Allen and Loreen Vandekerkhove Family Foundation Bursary for Aboriginal Health & Human Services Students; the Eulau Howard Memorial Award; the Tsa Qwa Supp Award for Nuu-chah-nulth Students; the Dorothy Price Treasure Box, and others.
Cultural services include helping to plan and host various cultural events including a Welcoming Feast each September and other events including Elders' Dinners, an annual First Nations Celebration Week, and activities to support the emotional and spiritual wellness of Aboriginal students.
In addition to these services, Aboriginal Education supports Indigenous programs at the college and provides linkages between students, the local First Nations community, Aboriginal community organizations, and the college.
