Aboriginal Education Awards
All Aboriginal Education & Community Connections (AECC) awards have the following requirements:
- Aboriginal (First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or Native American) ancestry
- GPA of 2.5 or equivalent (exception–Anthany Dawson Award)
- Completed application form, including all additional criteria
There are some important things to think about when you are getting ready to apply for an Aboriginal Award.

Deld'alus Te Ten
We raise our hands to the late Dorothy Price who left a very generous gift of ongoing support for Aboriginal students at Camosun College. The name of this award is SENCOTEN for "the arms of mother". Recognizing the emotional and spiritual aspects of students' lives, this award is for parents who have children living with them.
Criteria
- Available to students who are also parents
- Self-written letter outlining student's responsibilities as a parent
- Letter of reference from teacher or community member talking about student's commitment to education
- Agreement to attend an awards ceremony in March
- Financial need taken into consideration

Award amount: $500
Eulau Howard Memorial Award
We raise our hands to the late Mr. Art Howard who provided for this ongoing award in memory of his wife, Eulau.
Criteria
- Available to students who are involved in community service
- Self-written letter outlining student's commitment to community service
- Letter of reference from community member talking about student's dedication to community service
- Agreement to attend an awards ceremony in March
- Financial need taken into consideration

Mino-Ayaa Wellness Award
We raise our hands to the late Dorothy Price who left a very generous gift of ongoing support for Aboriginal students at Camosun College.
Criteria
- Available to students who demonstrate commitment to their own or others' physical wellness
- Self-written letter outlining student's commitment to physical wellness
- Letter of reference from teacher or community member talking about student's commitment to wellness
- Agreement to attend an awards ceremony in March
- Financial need taken into consideration

Award amount: $500
Winona Wood Memorial Award
We raise our hands to the late Ms Winona Wood who donated this ongoing gift to Aboriginal women attending Camosun College.
Criteria
- Available to women in any program who plan to become more self-sufficient as a result of their education
- Self-written letter outlining student's educational goals and how she is going to become more self-sufficient as a result of her education
- Letter of reference from teacher or community member talking about student's commitment to education
- Agreement to attend an awards ceremony in March
- Financial need taken into consideration
