The Aboriginal Service Plan

Aboriginal Education & Community Connections develops special projects to support and enhance Aboriginal student success and community development.

Enhancing Aboriginal student success

The Aboriginal Service Plan (ASP) was a three-year project, jointly funded with the University of Victoria through the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development.  Since 2008, the ASP has engaged Aboriginal community members and organizations in the imagining and shaping of future post-secondary initiatives that will help support Aboriginal learners.  Specifically, it sought to

  • increase Aboriginal student access and retention,
  • enhance the receptivity and relevance of Camosun to Aboriginal students, and
  • strengthen community connections.

To mark the completion of the project in December 2010, AECC hosted a Gratitude Feast to celebrate the communities, college personnel, students and funders who made it such a success.

The video on this page sums up the work that has been done.
